Dr. Laurence Hardwick received a MChem in Chemistry from the University of Southampton (2003). A PhD in Chemistry from ETH-Zurich (2006) followed that involved the study of intercalation electrodes with in situ Raman microscopy. He then spent two years at the Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory looking at carbon anode degradation in lithium ion cells. In 2008 he joined Peter Bruce’s group as a Research Fellow in the investigation of catalysts for the lithium air battery.
