Dr. Sandeep Sovani is the Manager of Global Automotive Strategy, at ANSYS Inc the world’s largest Computer Aided Engineering (CAE) software company (NASDAQ: ANSS). In this role he is responsible for developing the company’s business and market strategy for the worldwide automotive market segment. He holds three degrees in Mechanical Engineering: B.Engg. from University of Pune – India, M.Tech. from Indian Institute of Technology Chennai – India, and  Ph.D. from Purdue University – USA. Dr. Sovani has been actively involved in various areas of automotive technology and business for two decades. During these years apart from his work at ANSYS, Dr. Sovani has also worked at Tata Motors – India, served as an Adjunct Professor of Engineering at Lawrence Technological University – Michigan, USA, and conducted research on IC Engines under a grant from the Cummins Engine Company. He has authored over 40 papers, articles, and reports and delivered numerous invited lectures in academia, industry, and at conferences. He is a recipient of the Lloyd Withrow Distinguished Speaker Award from SAE International (Society of Automotive Engineers). Dr. Sovani is the founder of the Hybrid Electric Vehicles Michigan group, a professional networking group of HEV engineers. He is a member of SAE International and serves as a technical session chair and organizer in the society’s vehicle aerodynamics committee. Dr. Sovani is also a member of the American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME), Sigma Xi, MENSA International and other societies.
